Who We Are

Friends of Seger Park Playground is a tax exempt 501c3 nonprofit corporation, founded in 2007 by neighborhood parents.  We're dedicated to the renovation and beautification of the playground at Seger Park, located on Lombard Street between 10th and 11th Streets.

While it needs renovating, our playground has plenty to offer: a Tot Lot for kids under age 6, with a separate area for the smallest wee ones; baby and big-kid swings; a Big Kid climbing area; slides, a grassy hill for playing and picnicking; a community-tended flower garden; even a water spray park.  We're located inside Seger Park, which features tennis courts, a dog run, basketball courts, and a recreation center.

Keeping in mind how important children's play is to their development - and how crucial it is for communities to maintain safe, inviting spaces to gather - the goal of the Friends of Seger Park Playground is to renovate the playground, so that it remains a vital neighborhood hub. We’re seeking to ultimately raise money for new playground equipment; increased green space; new, safe surfacing materials; an updated spray area; and better lighting. We also regularly hold family-friendly community events.
